Agecroft Head RaceSaturday 15 October 2011
Northwich RC traveled to Manchester on Saturday 15th Oct to attend the very popular & highly competitive Agecroft Autumn Head located at Salford Quays to race on the River Irwell. This is an interesting course which starts in the heart of Manchester and covers 3050 m finishing at the Lowry Centre footbridge. The weather conditions were perfect with little wind and glorious autumn sunshine.
The club returned 2 wins.
J18A single scull: Ed Grisedale winning his category in an impressive 11:42 despite colliding with a bridge at the start of the race. He started 22nd and finished 4th overall racing against a number of Elite Agecroft scullers a few years older than him.
Women’s Masters D coxed four: The ladies had an excellent row and were delighted be awarded a medal against their opposition Warrington WMas B coxed four.

Northwich RC was well represented at the event with a number of crews being narrowly beaten, namely the J16 boys quad coming a close second out of 7 entries to rivals Queen’s Park/ Trafford and the WJunior 16 girls who entered a Women’s IM3 coxed Eight racing extremely well against strong opposition coming second to Royal Chester but pleased to have beaten Agecroft and Warrington eights.
