On Sunday the 30th January the English Indoor Rowing Championships took place at the Velodrome in Manchester . The competition is based on personal best times for 2000 Metres on an ergometer and Northwich Rowing Club coming away from the national championships with three medalists.
Ed Grisedale a pupil at Sir John Deane’s and a product of the Northwich Rowing Club Junior section won gold in the Men’s J18 event with a very fast time of 6:20.2. Ed has also been invited to the next GB Junior Squad trials at Caversham over the weekend.
Not to be outdone, the ladies had success with; Vicky Cheshire winning the Bronze in the Women’s 30-39 event in a time of 7:50.9 and Kerry Clarke winning Silver in the Women’s 30-39 Lightweight event in a time of 8:25.7. Both these ladies are recent graduates of the ‘Learn to Row’ programme at the Rowing Club and are also now competing in a Novice Crew.
Three other club members competed at the event on Sunday – Elaine Young, Nathan Jump and Chloe Weston.
